On the first two days, Wednesday and Thursday, we travelled to Brussels, the capital of Europe. There we visited different institutions of the EU, such as the European Parliament, the joint office for the regions of South Tyrol, North Tyrol and Trentino. We heard a lot of information about the functions of the EU in different lectures. Yet, we had already prepared the basics in school, so not everything was new to us. We had also the possibility to meet Mr. Dorfmann, the MEP (Member of European Parliament), who invited us for a meal and answered our questions very patiently.
In the afternoon we tried to find our way through Brussels during a sight-seeing activity prepared by the teacher of our partner school.
On Friday we travelled to Ypres to work on the First World War. We visited a modern museum, which introduced us to the horror of the war in an impressive way. Furthermore, we had a look at trenches and at a war cemetery for British soldiers.
And, of course, there were the evening activities too, which were great fun, and which improved our relationships as well.
Finally, on Saturday we drove home, tired but satisfied.
All in all, these days were informative, interesting and really enjoyable. Yet, there was a lot of work to do. We are already looking forward to our "Maturareise".
To conclude, we want to thank everyone who helped us to realize the project and especially our teachers Prof. Kaufmann and Prof. de Monte. Without them the trip would not have been possible. Thank you!
